Licences and attribution

This site stands on other people’s work and says so. Below is everything that ships with the page, plus the tool used to verify the calculations.

BaZi calculation engine

bazi-engine 0.9.0 — Stillness Dao (stillnessdao.com). All Four Pillars, solar-term, Ten Gods, luck-cycle and compatibility calculations come from this library. The source is vendored unmodified in src/lib/engine/.

The full MIT permission notice is reproduced verbatim in src/lib/engine/LICENSE and in the repository’s THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md, as the licence requires.

Site framework

  • Astro — MIT licence. Static site generation only; no server runtime ships to visitors.
  • esbuild / Vite — MIT licence. Build tooling, not shipped.

Data

  • City list (src/lib/cities.ts) — written for this project, released under the same MIT licence as the site. Coordinates are city-centre values to two decimal places. Time zones are IANA identifiers resolved by the browser’s own Intl implementation, so historical daylight saving comes from the IANA tz database rather than from our data.
  • Stems, branches and hidden stems — taken from the engine’s own tables, so the reference pages and the calculator can never disagree.

Test tooling (not shipped)

Cross-validation uses lunar_python (6tail), a Python port of the lunar-javascript library, released under the MIT licence. It runs only in the development environment to generate reference data for the regression tests. No visitor ever downloads or executes it.

What this site does not use

  • No paid AI model, no LLM API key, no server-side inference.
  • No database of our own and no user accounts. The optional email subscription stores its records in the email service (MailerLite) — see privacy.
  • No payment processing.
  • No third-party geocoding, maps or analytics services.

Content

The explanatory text was written for this site. It summarises traditional Chinese sources rather than reproducing any single one, and it deliberately avoids promising accuracy that the system cannot deliver. If you reuse it, a link back is appreciated.
