Privacy

This site does two different things, and they treat your data very differently. Calculating a chart never leaves your browser. Subscribing, or ordering a paid reading, does store what you submit — so both are opt-in and reversible.

Reviewed November 2026

1. Calculating a chart: nothing leaves your browser

The calculator, the compatibility tool, the almanac, the Zi Wei chart and the monthly reading page all run a JavaScript engine that is downloaded with the page. Your input is used in memory and then discarded.

  • Not sent. No request is made when you press Calculate — you can confirm this in your browser's network panel.
  • Not stored by default. No cookies, no localStorage, no sessionStorage, no IndexedDB — with one opt-in exception, described below.
  • Not in the URL. Birth data is never placed in a link, so it cannot leak through history, shared URLs or referrer headers.
  • Not logged. There is nothing to log, because the input never reaches a server.

“Remember these details on this device”

A checkbox on the calculator, unticked by default. If you tick it, the birth details you entered are written to this browser’s localStorage (key lumen.birth.v1) when you press Calculate, so the form is already filled the next time you open the site.

  • Local only. The record is never sent to us, never synced between devices, and contains no email address and no identifier.
  • Under your control. Unticking the box, pressing “Forget”, or clearing site data in your browser deletes it immediately.
  • Shared devices. On a computer other people use, leave the box unticked.

Shared chart links

If you press “Share this chart”, the site builds a link with your birth details encoded after the # symbol and puts it on your clipboard. Anything after # is never sent to a server, is not included in the Referer header, and is not indexed — the details travel only inside the link you copied. Whoever you send it to can open that chart, which is the point; the site itself never creates a share link on its own.

2. Subscribing to the monthly letter: this does store data

The monthly subscription is one of two features that send anything to a server, and one of two places birth details are stored (the other is a paid reading request, described in section 3). It is off by default; you have to fill the form and tick the consent box.

What is stored

  • Your email address.
  • Birth date, birth time (or “unknown”), birthplace as text, time zone, and the gender you selected.
  • Derived values needed to write the letter: your Day Master, the month pillar, and the generated monthly reading text.

Where it is stored

In the site's own database — a Cloudflare D1 instance in the same account that serves these pages. One row per signup, holding exactly the fields listed above. If the owner has also connected an email service (MailerLite) to send the letter, the same fields are mirrored onto your subscriber record there, because that is what puts the letter in your inbox. Nothing is stored anywhere else: there is no analytics database, no CRM, no data broker.

Why

The letter cannot be written without your birth details: the reading is a computation over your chart for a specific month. Nothing else is done with the data — no profiling, no advertising audiences, no sale, no sharing with anyone else.

Legal basis and consent

Consent, given by the checkbox on the subscription form. The checkbox text names the fields that will be stored. You can withdraw at any time.

How long, and how to delete

  • Data is kept while you are subscribed.
  • Every letter contains a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • To have the record deleted entirely, write from the subscribed address to . Deletion removes the subscriber record and its custom fields.

3. Requesting a paid reading

The “Have this chart explained to you” card sends a request to the same endpoint. It is a one-off order, not a subscription, and it is never added to a mailing list.

What is stored

  • Your email address — required, because the reading is delivered by email.
  • Which tool the request came from (for example bazi or ziwei), so the reply knows which chart you meant.
  • Birth date, birth time, birthplace and time zone only if they were already filled in on the page you ordered from. Nothing extra is asked for, and nothing is inferred.

Where it is stored, and for how long

In the same Cloudflare D1 database, as a single row. It is kept while the order is open and the follow-up exchange is live; once the reading has been delivered and no question is pending, the row is deleted. The payment itself happens on PayPal — card details never reach this site, and no payment data is stored here.

What it is not used for

Not for marketing, never added to a list, not shared, not sold. Ordering a reading does not subscribe you to anything.

4. The newsletter signup in the footer

The footer form is the older, email-only path: it sends nothing but your email address. It is kept separate from the monthly subscription on purpose — if you only want occasional notes, you never have to hand over birth details.

5. Analytics, cookies, third parties

  • No analytics, no advertising tags, no session recording, no fingerprinting.
  • No third-party fonts, scripts or CDNs — the page loads only its own files.
  • Processors, in full: Cloudflare hosts the pages and stores the form submissions; PayPal handles payment for a reading; MailerLite, once connected, sends the monthly letter. The calculator has no processor at all.

Like any website, the host (Cloudflare) processes standard technical request data — IP address, user agent, requested path — to deliver pages and block abuse. That is infrastructure logging, not a profile of you, and it is not joined to your chart, your subscription or your order.

6. Your rights

You can ask what is stored about you, get a copy, correct it, or have it deleted. Write to and it will be handled. Because the site has no accounts, the only records that can exist are the ones tied to the email address you chose to submit — a subscription row, an order row, or both.

7. Children

The site is intended for adults and is not directed at children. Subscriptions and orders from anyone under 16 are not knowingly accepted.

8. Changes

If this changes — for example if an account feature is added — this page is updated before the feature ships, and the change is described here rather than buried.
