What a month is, in BaZi
The twelve BaZi months are fixed by the twelve Jie solar terms — Lichun, Jingzhe, Qingming and so on — so a month runs from roughly the 4th to the 7th of a Gregorian month. Each month has its own stem and branch, produced by the year stem and the month's position in that sequence.
That pillar is then read against your natal chart in exactly the same way a day is (my daily reading): the month's stem becomes a Ten God relative to your Day Master, its branch clashes or combines with your four branches, and its elements either do or do not appear among your balancing elements.
What the reading actually contains
- The month pillar and the solar term that starts it — so you know the real date range.
- The month's Ten God against your Day Master, and which group it belongs to.
- Branch relationships with each of your four pillars: clash, combination, harm or none.
- Element alignment — whether the month carries one of your chart's balancing elements.
- The luck cycle the month sits inside, since a month reads differently in a good decade than a hard one.
What it does not do
It does not forecast events, score the month out of ten, or tell you to sign or not sign something. Every sentence on the result is assembled from the numbers above by fixed rules — there is no language model anywhere in this feature, and no sentence that could not be traced back to a pillar.
